Standard American Bullies

Several years ago we set out to raise and breed American Bullies.  We love the breed, and we are firm believers in proper training and understanding the characteristics of the breed you choose to own.  We showed several dogs, and eventually decided to retire and rehome 4 of the 6 show dogs we had raised practically since birth, along with rehoming a male we had rescued, and that was not an easy thing to do!  Thankfully though, we found good homes for them.  We kept one male and one female...the two we were most attached to.  Fast forward 13+ years into their lives, they became family and we built a bond that was inseparable.  They traveled to Puerto Rico with us, lived in RV's with us...it was quite a journey to say the least!

Shekinah was our standard female - her name meaning "the divine presence of God" - or as some refer to it, the glory of God.  Her name was "Taboo" when we purchased her as a puppy, which means cursed.  We were grateful to have rescued her from the kennel she was in, giving her freedom and a life full of love.  We called her "Ninah" or "Niny" for short.  Niny passed away on 9/24/24.  Her beautiful heart gave out and our hearts broke right along with it.  We miss her more than words can express, and we know she is in heaven, right where she belongs.

Canaan was our male - he came to us as an unnamed puppy, right at 7-8 weeks of age.  Canaan refers to the "promised land", biblically speaking, and we just love the name and thought behind it!  Canaan made it so close to the 13 year mark, but his little body gave out and he entered into rest on the Sabbath on 3/25/23.  We miss him more than anything - he was the sweetest boy ever, full of love and always begging for snacks.  He followed his momma everywhere, and he loved getting chin scratches from his dad.  He made our lives joyful, and we couldn't have asked for a better companion.  We miss him, but we know we will see him again some day, and until then, we will cherish all of the good times and hold him close in our hearts.

We are now on a mission to fill the empty house, and get back into the show ring with standard bullies!  We will be searching for the perfect match, hopefully bringing in 2-3 females and possibly 1 male at some point.  Stay tuned for updates and exciting announcements as we begin a new chapter in life!

Here are some memorial pics of our 2 best friends:

Isla Verde, Puerto Rico

We lived in Puerto Rico for about 3 months - here's a photo of them hanging out on the balcony that overlooked the ocean.

Nothing beats sleeping in your own bed.  It's even better when you have a buddy.

Those ears!!  We cropped them for show, but oh how I wish they were still there!

Our Sweet Canaan

See you soon - we love you so much.  Until then, rest sweet boy, you deserve your rest.

Porch Hangout Time

We enjoy hanging out on the porch, and with Canaan leaving us first, Ninah needed all the extra attention she could get.

Even though she was her dad's girl...she got to hang out with her mom more too.

Happy 14th Birthday!

Niny got a special homemade "Cake", composed of dog food, yogurt and salmon.  She was full of energy and active at that time, and not to mention super cute with that long pink tongue that always hung out.

Our Beloved Shekinah

Take care of Canaan for us, like you always did.  We will see you both again someday. And oh how we long for the day.
